Grimsby man sentenced to 12 months in jail for indecent act in front of young girls
Jaroslav Skorpik (62) of Kesgrave Street in Grimsby was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday 4 December to spend 12 months in jail.
This is after he pleaded guilty to the offence of ‘intentionally engaging in sexual activity in a place knowing or believing that a child and would be aware of that activity.’
This sentence of 12 months in custody is also accompanied by a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which prohibits him from attending play areas and parks.
This means that he will be monitored for the duration of the SHPO by dedicated officers intent on protecting children from harm.
Man, 61, committed indecent act in his car as he watched girls play at Grimsby park
A 61-year-old man has admitted touching himself as he watched two young girls playing in a Grimsby park.
Jaroslav Skorpik, of Kesgrave Street in Grimsby, was sat in his car on the corner of Haycroft Street where he was seen by the girls, aged 11 and 13, touching himself in a sexual way.
Grimsby Magistrates Court heard the girls walked to one of their homes after witnessing the act, which happened at around 8pm on June 23, 2018.
One of the girls’ mothers then confronted Skorpik, who had not moved from his vehicle.
The court heard that due to his limited understanding of English she wasn’t able to communicate with him.
The mother took pictures of Skorpik and his vehicle before contacting Humberside Police.
In his initial defence during interview, Skorpik claimed to be on medication which required him to urinate every 30 minutes which he said he was doing at the time the girls saw him.
He said that he was using an empty coffee cup to urinate in, which was accepted by the magistrates as mitigation to premeditation.
However Skorpik did later admit to masturbating in his car on more than one occasion.
The court heard that he had been convicted for a similar offence in Germany in 2014.
Skorpik pleaded guilty to the charge of intentionally engaging in sexual activity in a place knowing or believing that a child would be aware of that activity.
He will appear before Grimsby Crown Court for sentencing on November 27.
