Rapist jailed after his victim managed to record him telling her “do you not want it?” during attack
A rapist was snared after his terrified victim recorded him telling her “do you not want it” during the attack.
Predatory Keith Hall, 34, was also heard saying ‘so you don’t want me to f*** you?’ while he groped the woman who said ‘no’ as she tried to fend him off.
Moments earlier, the victim managed to activate the tape recorder on her mobile phone as he forced himself on her.
Dad-of-two Hall, from Blackley, Manchester, spotted the red operating light on her phone and demanded she delete the audio clip – but she secretly emailed the recording to herself without him noticing.
He was jailed for four-and-a-half years at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.
The court heard how Hall convinced the victim to sleep in a bedroom after she said she would stay on a sofa.
Prosecutor Charlotte Crangle, said: “She was reluctant but did agree, she lay face down with her arms tucked in to make it clear to the defendant she didn’t want to engage in any physical contact with him and he would not be able to touch her intimately.
“But he did start to do that, touching her on her upper legs and stomach wanting to become intimate with her. He continued to persuade her to have sex with him.
“He put his hands down her pyjama bottoms, she kept telling him to stop but he continued trying saying ‘come on’.
“She refused to engage with him and continued to tell him to stop. He pulled down her pyjama bottoms. After that he climbed on top of her, she was still face down and he pushed her legs apart with his legs.
“She was still telling him to stop but he carried on regardless. It got to the stage she realised he was not going to stop and she pulled a pillow over her face until it was over.
“There’s a recording of what took place because she had her phone next to the bed and pressed the button to activate the voice recording when this started.
“The defendant can be heard to say ‘do you not want it? Do you want me to take it out?’ and she’s saying yes. He says ‘so you don’t want me to f*** you?’ And she says no. However he still carried on.
“He realised her phone was recording after seeing it light up but she denied any knowledge of it recording and she deleted it but emailed the recording first to herself.”
The victim reported the rape after speaking with a mental health practicioner.
Hall later claimed sex was consensual but was convicted of rape at court.
