Child sex abuser from Lye jailed for 13 years
A child sex abuser from Lye has been jailed for 13 years and will remain a registered sex offender for life after a trial found him guilty.
Teacher of Qur’anic Studies Yacine Mebchiche, of Vicarage Road, sexually assaulted a young girl a number of times between 2017 and 2018.
At Birmingham Crown Court, he was jailed for 13 years, with four years extended licence, after the girl bravely spoke out and provided police with a video interview, helping them bring him to justice.
She spoke to specialist officers from the West Midlands Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit, who offered support and launched an investigation.
Mebchiche, aged 48, was convicted by a jury of seven counts of sexual assault on a girl under 13 and two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He will be placed on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life.
