St Annes pensioner admits having indecent images of children

A pensioner has pleaded guilty to downloading images of children being sexually abused.

Convicted sex offender George Thompson, 69, of Preston Road, Lytham St Annes, already has similar offences on his record from 2003, Preston’s Sessions House Court heard.

A probe found he had used search terms about “baby dolls”, “little girls” and “porn stories”.

Wayne Jackson, prosecuting, said officers carried out a warrant at his home at 7.40am on September 25, 2018, over suspected possession and distribution of indecent images.

He said: ” The defendant was present. A number of electronic items were retained including a laptop, Samsung phone, hard drives and Sony camera.”

The court heard he had two computer servers in his loft, and a hard drive recovered from a wardrobe in his bedroom had offending material on it.

Police also found he had used deletion software.

When officers asked if he had any knowledge of the indecent images he told them he looked for adult material occasionally.

Mr Jackson added: ” He admitted trawling the internet for adult porn and said he may have seen the images recovered when browsing.”

Thompson admits possessing one image at category A – the most serious legally – with six at category B and six at category C.

He also had 209 prohibited images and 20 extreme porn images involving animals.

Imposing a three year community order wit a requirement to attend a sex offender’s programme and rehabilitation requirement, Judge Philip Parry said: “This court is fed up to the back teeth of seeing you.

“You had a warning shot sent across your bows in 2003 when you were sent to prison for six months.

“That really ought to have been it.”

He made a 10 year sexual harm prevention order to prohibit his online activity and added: ” If you put a foot wrong you’ll go to prison and it’ll be measured in years rather than months.

“If I see you again you’d better bring your bag with you because you will be going to prison.”
