Aberdeen paedophile jailed for ‘abhorrent’ abuse

A paedophile who claimed his victims “enjoyed” his sexual abuse has been jailed for eight years.

Michael Taylor assaulted five boys and girls over a six-month period after enticing them to play with sweets and money.

Taylor, 71, filmed his rape of a young boy and instructed another victim to video him abusing a girl in Aberdeen.

A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told him that he had committed “abhorrent and serious” crimes.

Lady Scott said: “The effect of your conduct on these children and their families has been profound.”

“I am satisfied you present a serious risk of harm to children.”

Taylor, was also ordered to be supervised for three years following his release from prison, and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

The Army veteran previously admitted five offences of sexual assault against children aged between six and 11, and a further charge of taking indecent photographs of children.

He was arrested after a child told his father that Taylor had put his hands under his clothes.

The boy said Taylor told him not to tell his parents and had previously given him money for sweets.

Police recovered a number of devices from Taylor’s home and an examination of his phone revealed images and videos of children.

Advocate depute Leanne Cross said: “He said that he was very sorry for the children and was ashamed but when asked for further details said that he never forced them and that, if anything, they liked it.”

Vile Scots predator claimed young victims ‘enjoyed it’ after raping a child and sexually abusing four others

A vile beast who carried out a string of horrific sex attacks on children claimed his victims “enjoyed it” during an interview with police.

Michael Taylor, from Aberdeen, was found to have video footage on a mobile phone of him carrying out sickening assaults on two of his young victims.

During questioning by police, the 71-year-old said he had become “over friendly” with two of his five victims and that it had turned sexual.

Advocate depute Leanne Cross said: “He said that he was very sorry for the children and was ashamed but then when asked for further details said that he never forced them and that, if anything, they liked it.”

The prosecutor said: “He acknowledged that this was no excuse but reiterated that he did not force them and that they ‘enjoyed’ it.”

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that in August last year one young boy was being put to bed by his father when the child revealed that he thought Taylor was a paedophile.

He then disclosed that he had put his hands under his clothing.

He said Taylor told him not to tell his parents and that he had given him money for sweets on a previous occasion.

Taylor was arrested and police later searched his home in Garthdee Terrace, in Aberdeen, and recovered a number of devices.

An initial examination found pictures of children on a mobile phone and indecent images of youngsters’ private parts.

The part-time driver for a laundry firm made a series of admissions about his behaviour with children during a police interview.

He pleaded guilty to five sexual assaults of children, aged between six and 11, including the rape of one victim between March and October last year.

The predator also admitted that he had taken or made indecent photos of children on various occasions in 2020.

The court heard that pictures of girls and boys estimated to be between six and 12 taking part in sexual activity and erotic posing were found on phones.

It was discovered he had made searches for boys in skirts, boys in dresses and gay young boys.

A judge deferred sentence on Taylor, who is currently remanded in Grampian prison, until next month for the preparation of a background report with a risk assessment.
