Leeds pervert sent ’13-year-old girls’ Facebook sex messages and bus route times to his home in Beeston

A pervert was caught out by a paedophile hunter group after he sent sex messages and bus route times to what he believed were 13-year-old girls.

Christopher Hawksworth was arrested at his home in Beeston after being contacted by a member of the public who had set up decoy Facebook profiles of teenage girls.

Leeds Crown Court heard Hawksworth made contact with the profiles and introduced himself as a 37-year-old man.

The conversations were sexual and continued on Whatsapp.

David Bradshaw, prosecuting, said Hawksworth sent details of bus routes to his home and gave his name and address.

He also made requests that he be sent sexual images.

When interviewed he admitted the offending and accepted that what he had done was wrong.

Hawksworth, 37, of Harlech Terrace, Beeston, pleaded guilty to three counts of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

The court heard Hawksworth was on the sex offender register at the time after being given a caution for similar offending in 2018 and 2019.

Hawksworth was given a two-year sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to complete 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Recorder Abdul Iqbal QC said: “I have come to the conclusion that the public interest is better served by reducing the risk from you to members of the public.”
