Cramlington pervert was driving to meet ‘child’ for sex when police pulled him over for using phone
A pervert was caught on his way to try to meet an underage schoolgirl when police pulled him over for using his mobile phone at the wheel.
Joseph Coulthard had told what he believed to be a 15-year-old girl that he wanted to have sex with her during a series of vile messages on the Skout app.
In fact he was communicating with a decoy profile set up by a paedophile hunting group targeting predators.
Despite being told she was 15, he said he would “still love to f*** you” and outlined sexual things he wanted to do.
Coulthard asked “Jess” if she could sneak out to meet him and she told him she could as her mother had been drinking.
An arrangement was made to meet at a pub just after midnight but Coulthard was intercepted on his way.
Alec Burns, prosecuting at Newcastle Crown Court, said: “Police were in Cramlington when they saw him in his car and they pulled him over.
“He was frantically looking at his screen and he was under the influence of something, which turned out to be cannabis.
“It appears he was setting off to meet this young girl.”
As a result of his arrest, it came to light he had been involved in similar illegal chats with another decoy profile on Skout, set up by a different group purporting to be another 15-year-old girl.
He had told her various sexual things he wanted to do including having sexual intercourse.
When he was interviewed by police, he said in relation to the first profile he thought it was an adult and the second one he thought it was role play.
However the 32-year-old, of Nairn Road, Cramlington, went on to plead guilty to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and he has now been jailed for two years and nine months.
