Plymouth flasher drops his shorts in front of kids in a shop

A man dropped his shorts in front of children in a shop and then spat at a police officer, a court heard.

Trystan Preston, aged 46, shocked customers in a convenience store before attacking a constable and a sergeant trying to detain him, Plymouth magistrates were told.

Preston dropped his shorts to expose his genitals at Grenville Stores in Grenville Road, St Judes, last summer.

He pleaded guilty to outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner on August 30.

Preston, of Ford Park Road, Mutley, also admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker in the exercise of their functions that same day.

The pleas were entered the day after the offences but Preston was only sentenced last month.

Magistrates handed him an eight-week prison sentence suspended for six months. He was ordered to pay each officer £100 in compensation, as well as £85 prosecution costs and £128 victim surcharge.

The bench stated in their reasons for custody that the indecent exposure was in front of children.

Magistrates added that the assault on the constable in Grenville Road involved spitting.

Preston also assaulted the sergeant at Charles Cross police station after his arrest.
