Lying paedophile who preyed on young girls handed 22-year sentence

A dangerous peadophile who preyed on young girls has been handed more than 22 years’ jail.

David Price denied a catalogue of offences which forced his two victims to give evidence during a trial at Leeds Crown Court, but then admitted his crimes after being found guilty.

The 40-year-old was sentenced this morning, receiving a 22-and-a-half years – 14-and-a-half of which will be spent behind bars, the remaining eight on extended licence.

The court was told that the Price, while living in the Wakefield district at the time, targeted the two young girls under the age of 13.

He abused one over a four-month period and the other over a four-year period.

Price, now of Boulsworth Drive, Trawden in Lancashire, was charged with nine offences in total and found guilty of all of them.

The court was told of the horrendous impact the abuse had on the two females, with one suffering from suicidal thoughts, had self harmed and needed extensive counselling.

It was only when a pre-sentence report was ordered after the trial had concluded did Price admit what he had done, and that he was attracted to young girls.

The court was told that he had been in a new relationship with a woman and he feared she would end it if he admitted the charges. She eventually did terminate the relationship.

He had already been convicted of making indecent images of children in 2017 for which he was given an eight-month suspended sentence.
