Edinburgh man caught with a stash of horrific child abuse images on his computer
A pervert was caught with a stash of child abuse images following a police raid on his home.
Mark Hill was found to have downloaded the images – rated at the most depraved end of the spectrum – when officers turned up at his home in the Leith area of Edinburgh.
A laptop and a hard drive were seized from the property and, after being examined, cyber crime officers discovered four Category A pictures of children being sexually abused.
Hill, 44, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today where he pleaded guilty to two offences involving the possession of indecent images of children.
Prosecutor Gavin Whyte told the court police had received intelligence that images were being downloaded at Hill’s address and arrived at his home with a search warrant at around 7.45am on June 27 last year.
Hill allowed them entry and told officers he lived alone at the flat and confirmed that no-one else had used his computer equipment.
Mr Whyte added Hill’s laptop and hard drive were confiscated and after being examined it was determined he had four category A images hidden away in a folder.
The fiscal said the horrific images found were “available for sharing” and that Hill subsequently gave a no comment interview to police.
No further details of the images were given in open court.
Sheriff Kenneth Campbell QC placed Hill on the Sex Offenders Register for a period still to be decided and deferred full sentence for the preparation of reports to next month.
Hill pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children at his home address on June 27 last year.
He also admitted a charge of taking, or allowing to be taken, indecent images of children on the same date.
