Caversham builder guilty of two counts of child sexual abuse

A builder has been found guilty of sexually abusing a child under the age of 13.

Martin Collins, of Lower Henley Road, Caversham, received the verdict after a week-long trial last month.

The 65-year-old was found guilty by a jury on two counts of sexually abusing a girl under 13 at a hearing last week.

But the jury in Collins’ trial could not reach a verdict on eight other charges leveled against him.

Collins will appear at Reading Crown Court again on Wednesday, May 12.

Here, the builder will learn whether the prosecution wishes to pursue a re-trial, or whether he will be sentenced for the charges he was found guilty of at last week’s hearing.

Collins has been remanded on bail until this time.
