Clitheroe paedophile with ‘alter ego’ caught with more than 250 indecent images

An already convicted paedophile was caught with more than 250 indecent images of children with some depicting those as young as six.

Neil Gawthorpe was 24 when he was given a Sexual Offence Prevention Order back in 2008 after police found sexual images of children on his computer.

Now 37, Gawthorpe, of Tower Hill in Clitheroe, appeared at Preston Crown Court today (May 14) after pleading guilty to further counts of possession of indecent images and breaching the order.

The court heard that between August 7 in 2019 and January 7 of 2020 Gawthorpe was found to be in possession 66 Category B indecent images and 187 Category C indecent images of children.

He was also found with a Samsung Note 10 and mobile phone which his order prohibited.

He must also complete 30 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and was given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
