Offender breached Sex Offenders’ Register in Oldham

A sexual offender breached the terms of his supervision in Oldham.

Omar Alam was accused of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register on a single date in January in the town.

The case called at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court recently and was proved against him in his absence.

The register requires people of convicted of sexual offences to alert police to matters such as a change of address.

Alam, 50 and currently in HMP Forest Bank, had his case sent to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court where he will be sentenced later this month.
