Derbyshire pervert ‘perpetuated misery’ on children whose sick images he downloaded

A judge has rejected a child abuse pervert’s explanation that he downloaded sick images as he was interested in paedophile hunters.

Recorder Stuart Sprawson said Tom Roe “sought to minimise” his sexual interest in young girls with the claims he made to the police and probation service.

Derby Crown Court heard how officers found pictures and movies of girls aged eight to 15 when they seized devices from the 32-year-old’s Derbyshire home.

Now the Sky engineer has narrowly avoided being sent immediately to custody.

Handing Roe a 10-month jail term, suspended for two years, Recorder Sprawson said: “Many view this type of crime as victimless involving people that society does not need to care about.

“But these offences start with someone taking images which are shared of innocent children that need to be protected.

“You perpetuate misery, you perpetuate children losing their innocence and you perpetuate this vile crime.

“You showed limited, if any, remorse and you sought to minimise why you were doing this.
