Drunk who had sex outside Exeter Cathedral jailed

A drunken sex offender has been jailed for ignoring an order and having sex with a teenage student outside Exeter Cathedral.

Kieron Lord was cleared of raping the 18-year-old at a trial last month but admitted breaking a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

That was imposed in 2019 after he groped two women near Polsloe Bridge station in Exeter and exposed himself to a group of schoolgirls in a nearby park.

It banned him from approaching women in the street or entering any public park or play area. He broke both conditions when he and co accused Benjamin Carr picked up the 18-year-old and 16-year-old strangers near Exeter College.

They took them into Bury Meadow Park where they plied them with vodka before buying more drink on their way to the Cathedral on the evening of December 2 last year.

Lord had sex with the older girl in a bay between two flying buttresses next to the historic North Tower of the Norman cathedral.

He was cleared of rape after telling a jury that she consented to sex and helped him undress her. He said she only ran off because Carr sexually assaulted the younger girl in another alcove.

Both men were being housed in a hostel and had spent the afternoon drinking at The Imperial before they accosted the two girls and offered them drink.

Carr, aged 33, of Howell Road, Exeter, was found guilty of inciting sexual activity without consent and attempted assault by penetration. He will be sentenced later when a probation assessment of his level of dangerousness is completed.

Lord, aged 32, of Howell Road, Exeter, was cleared of rape, two attempted rapes, and sexual assault but pleaded guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order on the first day of the trial last month.

He was jailed for 16 months by Judge Peter Johnson at Exeter Crown Court.

He told him:”A serious sexual allegation which was made against you was not proved. This was not a minor or technical breach of the order.

“This was a deliberate breach. On the basis of the evidence in the trial, I find you deliberately approached these young teenagers.”

Mr James Haskell, prosecuting, said the SHPO was imposed in November 2019 when he received a suspended sentence for two sexual assaults and two offences of outraging pubic decency.

Miss Kelly Scrivener, defending, said Lord has been in custody since his arrest in December and has been able to overcome an addiction to alcohol for the first time.

She said: “He has come to the realisation that he has wasted 15 years of his life through alcohol addiction which stemmed from his experiences in childhood.”

She said he had gone out drinking with Carr and had no intention of either meeting girls or entering a park or breaking the order.

During a week-long trial, the girls told how they got chatting to the men, who were strangers, on the afternoon of December 2 last year. They drank drink vodka with them in Bury Meadow Park and then walked to the Cathedral

The 18-year-old said Long took her around the corner into another bay twice. He tried to have sex with her on the first occasion but was interrupted but later had sex with her from behind.

She said she was frozen with fear and unable to resist and was rescued by her younger friend who grabbed her, enabling them both to run off.

The 16-year-old girl said Carr was sat with her when he suddenly started kissing her and put his hands inside her pants.

The jury were shown a CCTV compilation which showed the girls singing and dancing together in the Guildhall Centre as they walked to the Cathedral.

They uploaded a video onto TikTok from Sainsbury in which they were singing as they filmed themselves in a mirror.

Other clips showed them running away past The Ship pub after the alleged assaults and crying hysterically as passers-by and then the police came to help them.

The 18-year-old girl’s DNA was found on a swab taken from Lord’s penis.

Lord said the 18-year-old consented to sex and that it was Carr who had bought all the alcohol.

Carr denied touching the younger girl sexually in any way.

He said: “I did not touch her one bit. I didn’t ask her if I could kiss her and I didn’t kiss her in any way. I did not touch her.

”The girls seemed happy and weren’t crying of anything like that. We were just chatting. There was nothing bad. We were all having a giggle.”

Sex offender who touched himself in Exeter park banned from every playing field in Britain

A drunken groper has been banned from every playing field in the country after he shocked schoolchildren by carrying out a sex act in a play area.

Kieran Lord has also been banned from following women in the street and  sent on a sex offenders’ treatment course after he grabbed two women in Exeter.

He also touched their genitals and then moved on to a public playing field where he terrified a group of male and female teenagers by putting his hand down his shorts and masturbating.

All the offences happened near Polsloe Road railway station and the sexual assaults both started with him grabbing the victims’ bottoms before he touched their private parts over clothing.

He had spent the day drinking on Cathedral Green and was on his way home when he encountered the young women, both of whom were complete strangers.

Lord, aged 31, formerly of Budlake, near Broadclyst, admitted two counts of sexual assault and two of outraging public decency. He is now thought to be living in Cullompton.

He was jailed for six months, suspended two years and ordered to attend sex offenders and alcohol treatment courses by Judge Peter Johnson at Exeter Crown Court.

The judge also imposed a seven year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which bans contact with children, following women in the street, and a condition ‘not to enter any play park, playing fields and recreation grounds’.

He was told that he could apply to have the terms altered if he joined a bona fide sports team which uses public playing fields.

The judge told him:”You sexually attacked two complete strangers. These women were going about their lawful business when you came upon them and in the space of five minutes you carried out very similar attacks.

“You grabbed hold of their bottoms, albeit over clothing, before moving your hand to their vaginal area. If that was not enough, you twice approached young children in their teens in a park and thrust your hand down your shorts and started to masturbate.”

Miss Christine Hart, prosecuting, said Lord approached the two women at around 7 pm on June 28 this year. he told the first she was beautiful and gorgeous before grabbing her bottom.

He did exactly the same to the second victim before he went to the Hamlin Lane playing fields where he told a 15-year-old girl she had a ‘nice bum’ and masturbated in front of children on two different occasions
