Rayleigh paedophile caught with 3,000 abuse pics
A depraved paedophile from Essex who had more than 3,000 abusive images of children – including infants and toddlers has avoided a prison sentence
Peteris Karklins said he “struggled to talk” about the offences and claimed to the court that he had a “real sense of shame” after child rape photos were found on various laptops and hard-drives at his home in Rayleigh.
The 41-year-old of Oakley Drive had his home raided back in June 2018 after police were made aware an IP address had been used to access indecent material.
Karklins was not home at the time, but police seized USB sticks, a laptop and hard-drives where the vile material was found.
There were 392 images in Category A – the most serious kind – plus 104 Category B, and 2,974 in Category C, totalling 3,470 indecent images.
There were also four extreme images of pornography involving sex acts with a pig, and a prohibited image of a child.
Karklins admitted all crimes against him.
Recorder Leslie Cuthbert said: “You may not have realised it at the time but you have helped perpetuate and continue the abuse of children.
“Still and moving images of male and female babies from one to 15 suffering the most horrendous acts including various forms of rape.
“The victims suffer physical, emotional and psychological harm.”
He was given 16 months in jail suspended for 20 months, with 50 days rehabilitation and 100 hours of unpaid work.
