Paedophile caught with indecent images for second time
A paedophile who was caught with indecent images of children for a second time has been jailed.
John Andrews, from Longford, was previously spared jail five years ago after being found in possession of vile pictures for the first time.
But police visited his home again last year and discovered images of boys being raped on his mobile phone.
Liverpool Crown Court heard on Friday, August 13, that the landscape gardener was handed a three-year community order for possession of indecent images back in 2016.
The 36-year-old, of Cooper Avenue, was also ordered to comply with a five-year sexual harm prevention order – although he breached his sex offenders register requirement on one occasion when he went on holiday to Tenerife without informing the authorities.
In August 2020, officers attended Andrews’ address to ensure that he was complying with his various court orders.
When one checked his phone, it was discovered that he had been accessing pornography – ‘contradicting’ what he had told them.
The device was sent for further analysis, at which point 22 indecent images of boys aged between 12 and 17 were discovered.
Andrews – who has four previous convictions for six offences including criminal damage, battery and possession of drugs – had also searched online for ‘first time boys’ and ‘very young friends’.
He admitted possession of indecent images and was handed a 12-month imprisonment.
Sentencing, recorder Ian Unsworth said: “Your poor compliance is such in my judgement, bearing in mind all the circumstances, only an immediate custodial sentence can be imposed.”
Andrews, who was supported by his partner in the public gallery and has his own gardening and landscaping business, was also told to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period of time.
