‘Monster’ former miner jailed after sexually abusing schoolgirl

Pensioner Zygmunt Staszewski was jailed at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court

A perverted pensioner has been jailed for sex crimes he committed more than 40 years ago.

‘Bully’ Zygmunt Staszewski gave into his revolting urges and sexually abused his victim when she was still a schoolgirl.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the horrific attacks left her feeling depressed, ashamed and embarrassed.

Now the 69-year-old has been jailed for six years and nine months.

The former miner, of Trentham Road, Blurton, denied seven charges of indecent assault and four charges of indecency with a child but was convicted of all 11 charges after a trial earlier this year.

Prosecutor Tom Kenning said the abuse had a devastating effect on the victim.

In a statement the woman said: “This man was a bully, a paedophile, and a weak man. He proved himself to be a monster.”

Staszewski will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
