A victim of sexual abuse has been praised for her bravery after she helped to convict a Huddersfield man who abused her almost 20 years ago.

Rashid Iqbal, 46, was jailed for 12 years at Leeds Crown Court today (Tuesday) following a four day trial which took place last week.

During the trial, the court heard Iqbal had sexually abused his victim between the ages of 13 to 15 years old.

His offences took place between 2003 and 2005 and happened in the Huddersfield area.

Iqbal, of Dryclough Road, was sentenced for two offences of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity and two offences of indecency with a child under 14.
