Smirking paedophile deemed a danger to society for actioning his sick obsession with children

A sex offender with a “deep-seated interest in young children” exposed himself in front of a young boy and brazenly showed him his “evil bits”.

He had “no boundaries” and asked the youngster if he wanted to “see something cool” before committing a sex act in front of him, Grimsby Crown Court heard.

He would “translate” his interest in child pornography into “actions” and was found with hundreds of sickening images.

Reece Hedison, 22, of Grimsby Road, Laceby, admitted engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and three offences of making indecent images of children in July 2017.

Simon Reevell, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that Hedison was overheard talking to a boy and mention was made of him exposing his “evil bits”.

Hedison had been heard asking the boy: “Do you want to see something cool?”

He started committing a sex act in the boy’s presence. The police were alerted.

They found indecent photographs and videos of children, including 93 images and 45 videos in the most serious Category A.

There were 48 images and 25 videos in Category B and 400 images and three videos in Category C.

Hedison had been searching for pornography mainly involving boys but also girls.

“It’s clear that his searches were in respect of children,” said Mr Reevell.

Hedison had three convictions from 10 years ago in 2011 when he was aged 11 or 12.

The case had been delayed for about four years through no fault of Hedison.

Judge Ahmed Nadim told Hedison: “You appear to recognise no boundaries in respect of your sexual behaviour.

“You appear to have a deep-seated interest in young children and have been resorting to pornography, including child pornography, for a period of time.

“You admitted your wrongdoing in relation to these matters.

“There was a significant disparity in age between you and your victim.

“You have a tendency to translate your interest in child pornography into actions.

“That’s part of a pattern of your behaviour.”

Judge Nadim added: “You will constitute a danger for the society that you live in.”

He added that he would be failing in his duty if he did not lock Hedison up.

Hedison was jailed for 15 months and was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
