Steven McGivern revealed after he is caught with almost 10,000 child ABUSE images and videos
THIS is the first image of the perv caught with thousands of child porn images and videos.
But Steven McGivern, 42, is no longer a danger to kids in the capital after he was caged for 30 months last week for possessing almost 10,000 of the sick images and clips.
McGivern, originally from Roseleigh Street in Belfast, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of child pornography at his former address in Rathgar, on November 26, 2012.
Irish Sun can reveal he’s also suspected by the PSNI of possessing the sickening images during his time in the North.
A source said: “He’s been involved in this trade for a long time and the PSNI are looking at other cases in which he may have been viewing child porn images.
“Gardai and the PSNI work closely together in identifying individuals involved in these type of crimes.”
During McGivern’s appearance in court last week, the hearing was told gardai launched a probe after he was identified by Interpol as a viewer of the sick images.
The investigation had originated in Canada before Interpol contacted gardai.
During a search of his property, cops seized a laptop, a PC, a USB stick and several DVDs.
A total of 9,595 images and 178 videos of child pornography were recovered from the electronic devices.
Judge Sinead Ni Chualachain sentenced McGivern to two and a half years jail. She also ordered that he follow all directions of the Probation Service for two years post release and engage with any service or programme deemed relevant.
