Purfleet sex offender failed to register his details with police
A sex offender has been fined after failing to register his details with police.
Michael White has appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court after he failed to show up to the police station in Basildon last year.
The 42-year-old of Church Lane, Purfleet was required under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 to register his details annually with the police so they are able to keep tabs on him.
However, when required to do this on November 30 last year, he did not show up to register.
He was later charged and appeared at court where he admitted the offence.
The magistrates’ bench chose to fine White a total of £310.
He must also pay a victim surcharge of £34, and costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
White must continue to register his details with police regularly, following a conviction of a sexual offence previously.
The nature of the previous offence was not disclosed during the court heard.
