Pervert found with thousands of indecent images of children is sentenced

An East Kilbride man has been put on the sex offenders’ register for two years after being caught with indecent images of children.

Additionally, Ronald McNamara must have no unsupervised contact with under-16s after his conviction at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

More than 2500 photos and videos were found on three devices examined by specialist police officers

McNamara, of Pine Crescent, admitted a charge in relation to the possession of indecent material.

The court heard that police officers went to his address with a search warrant on October 16 last year.

Of 1005 videos discovered, 914 were ranked in the most serious category.

McNamara, who has no previous convictions, appeared in court for sentence on Friday, having pleaded guilty to the charge last month.

After studying a criminal justice social work report and a risk assessment, Sheriff Thomas Millar decided not to impose a prison sentence.

He told McNamara: “I am prepared to make an order that means you will be supervised for two years.
