A jobless paedophile was caught with hundreds of child abuse images and videos showing sickening footage of children as young as two-years-old.

Craig Anderson, 37, was caught after confidential information was received by police and they carried out a raid on the home he shared with his parents.

Anderson was caught with more than 400 images and video clips with a total run time of nearly 30 minutes, Dundee Sheriff Court was told.

Anderson, from Arbroath, admitted downloading child abuse images at his home between 16 November 2019 and 27 March last year.

He also admitted possession of the vile material.

Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova told the court: “A search warrant was granted and officers were afforded entry to the property by his father. Various devices were recovered.”

She told the court some of the material had been obtained through Skype and part of the haul featured children being subjected to sadistic sexual abuse.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael deferred sentence for the preparation of reports and Anderson was granted bail.
