Inverness man has sentence deferred after being found guilty of a sex offence

A 39-year-old Inverness man was convicted of a sexual assault after trial at the city’s sheriff court.

First offender Paramvir Singh, of Dunain Road, had denied two sex offences of inappropriately touching two women in Inverness on occasions in 2019, 2020 and 2021 in Bank Street, Inverness.

After evidence was heard by Sheriff Ian Cruickshank from the two women, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, Singh was convicted of one offence committed on February 8, 2021.

He was found not proven on the other charge. He was accused of touching their bottoms and trying to kiss one woman.

Sentence was deferred on Singh until September 23 for a background report and restriction of liberty order assessment.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register in the interim
